Welcome back to The Ontario Clydesdale Club Newsletter!

Can you believe it? It’s almost Fall and Fair Season is well under way. I wish everyone the very best of luck for the 2024 show season here in Ontario and places far beyond.

I would like to thank Director - Amanda Richardson for taking on the task of creating and sourcing content for this newsletter. And to the entire 2024 Board of Directors, thank-you you’re your contributions.

What a year we have had so far:  The McGregor Meats Fundraiser was a huge success.  If you haven’t participated in the past, you really should - the food is amazing. Look for our posts in the Spring of 2025 for your next chance to take part next year.

The Driving/Riding Clinic held on June 15th in Caledonia saw a large turnout of participants from across the province. We were so fortunate to have such wonderful weather to learn and practice harnessing, driving, show prep and participate in riding demonstrations.  We hope to make this an annual event at different locations across the province. A hearty thank you to Brain and Marion Walker, Heather Spoelstra and Claire Gregg for supporting this event by donating their time, expertise, horses and equipment.

Also, the highly anticipated OCC 2024 Golf Tournament in Wingham was a real success.  Once again Bryce and Tanya Toll did an amazing job organizing the event on behalf of the Club. Even the weather was on their side. Check out our Facebook page to see all the wonderful pictures. A special thanks to all the sponsors and supporters.

The Ontario Bred and Sired and Youth Showmanship Programs are underway. Good luck to this year’s participants, I look forward to seeing many of you on the show trail.
The new Ontario Youth Clydesdale Draws via Facebook was so much fun, whether you participated in the draws, won a prize or just kept tabs on what the next item up for grabs would be. Anyone interested in taking part in next year's draw can reach out to Director – Jennilee Starr.

The OCC will be hosting a decorating demonstration at this year's Triple Crown Draft Classic, Thursday October 24th at 5:30 - additional information coming soon.
Next year our 2024 Annual General Meeting will be held in conjunction with our Banquet on February 8th, 2025, in Tavistock. For those who are interested, we will have 3 Board of Director positions available.  Serving on the OCC Board is a great opportunity to support this amazing club and its membership.

Spring Message from Joanne Douglas-Lane,  President 

With the first official day of summer right around the corner, I sincerely

hope everyone has had a successful and rewarding foaling/breeding

season.

The Ontario Clydesdale Club has secured our ambassador for 2024.

Claire Schipper will once again be representing the Club at many

events throughout the year. Thank you, Claire, and have fun!

Thank you to Director - Heather Frank and to Leah Everson for

organizing this year’s MacGregor Meat & Seafood fundraising. Taking

on this task is no easy feat and is so appreciated as it is an important

fundraiser for the Club which allows us to support shows and youth

programming.

As well, a hardy thank you also goes out to Director – Larry McLean for

organizing such a tremendous driving clinic. Pictures will be on our

Facebook page.

While Director – Jennilee Starr is busily preparing for the new Youth

Showmanship Program. With the recent roll out of the “Ontario Youth

Clydesdale Draws” page on Facebook. If you haven’t seen it yet, please

check it out and help us support our youth programming.

Time is ticking to get your Ontario Bred & Sired Yearling Stallion or

Mare registered for the 2024 show season. The following are the

qualifying shows for 2024: Essa, Navan, Paisley, Glencoe, The Royal,

Lindsay, Simcoe and The Triple Crown. Please register before July 1 st.

Past President Bryce Toll is well under way with the planning of the OCC

2024 Golf Tournament on July 13th , 2024, at the Wingham Golf &

Curling Club. For anyone interested in participating via Hole

Sponsorship, Prize donation, a round of golf or just to join the golfers for

dinner, please reach out to Bryce at brycetollhotmail.com.

Reminder that 2024 membership renewals are overdue. Membership

applications and payment options are available via our website or
